May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month
It’s time to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzA47J7QsVk) and so therefore it must be skin cancer awareness month. Chris T Bear has already done the appropriate thing and slid on his sunglasses, and here is some information including up to date evidence and guidance when it comes to skin cancer.
Infographic via Cancer Research UK accessed 26/05/17
“Excluding non-melanoma, melanoma is the fifth most common cancer in the UK. Around 13,500 new cases of melanoma are diagnosed each year.
More than a quarter of skin cancer cases are diagnosed in people under 50, which is unusually early compared to most other types of cancer.
Over recent years, skin cancer has become much more common in the UK. This is thought to be the result of increased exposure to intense sunlight while on holiday abroad.”
Information on Melanoma aimed at patients available from www.nhs.uk – accessed 26/05/17
