 What is OpenAthens?

• It allows you access to Christie Library & Knowledge Service eresources and the NHS Core Collection of resources
• Available on and off site (anywhere)
• Available to all Christie staff and students on placement at the Christie
You can also ask for an OpenAthens account to be set up for you when you join the library, or if you have a problem self-registering.

OpenAthens FAQs

What email accounts can I register an OpenAccount with?

OpenAthens accounts require an NHS email address. Any email addresses ending @christie.nhs.uk, @nhs.net or @doctors.org will be accepted. Emails like Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail will not. Please contact the library if there are any problems.

I have just joined the Christie from another Trust, do I need to change my OpenAthens?

If you already have an OpenAthens from another NHS trust then you will only be able content purchased by that trust. If you no longer work there you can re-register for a Christie OpenAthens or change your organisation HERE

Help! I cannot log into an OpenAthens resource

Please contact the library if you cannot log in to OpenAthens, if you have forgotten your password or if a resource you think we have access to is not working for you.

If it is out of hours:

1.Double check that you are typing the username and password correctly. If you are copying from an email make sure that there is not a space at the end of either the username or password.
2.Make sure that we have access to the resource.

I’ve forgotten my username or password

If you have forgotten your usename name or password, you can try resetting it with the email address you registered with or contact the library. We are unable to tell you what your password is, but we can reset it for you and tell you what account name is, just email us library@christie.nhs.uk

How do I change my password?

You can change your password HERE
