Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
This year the focus is on coming together to Make Caring Visible and Valued.

Windrush Day honours the British Caribbean community, and the half a million people who travelled to the UK after the Second World War. The first Windrush Day was held on June 22 2018. More people than ever before are taking part this year to support the Windrush Generation, and show sympathy with the hardships they have endured.

A volunteering organisation has launched a new initiative which will help five NHS trusts in England. It will encourage the trusts’ volunteers to think about a long-term career in the NHS. The ‘Volunteer to Career’ programme is thought to tackle the workforce shortages in the NHS.
