Innovating for improved healthcare
Rand Europe has published Innovating for improved healthcare: policy and practice for a thriving NHS. This report examines the potential of innovation to help deliver an efficient and effective healthcare service. It aims to provide actionable evidence to help policymakers and wider stakeholders to effectively engage with the opportunities (and manage the challenges) that innovation presents for supporting the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the health system.

The Department of Health and Social Care has issued information for the public relating to the Wuhan novel coronavirus. It includes information regarding actions for the public, the current situation in the UK and actions taken in the UK and abroad.

Digital triage in health services
The Care Quality Commission has published Digital triage in health services. This report presents the findings of the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC’s) first regulatory sandbox pilot during which they worked with providers, people who use services, clinicians, technology suppliers and other stakeholders to build a consensus on what is needed to deliver high-quality care when using digital tools in triage.
Changing Places toilets in the NHS
The Department of Health and Social Care has announced that over £500,000 has been given to 10 NHS trusts in England to build new Changing Places toilets for severely disabled people. The money has been made available to 10 trusts across England to start work on 16 new facilities, with a further £1.5 million available to bid for.
NHS e-Referral Service and NHS 111 DoS
NHS Digital has announced that the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS) and the NHS 111 Directory of Services (DoS) have completed their migration to the cloud, making the services more secure and efficient. These two services are the first of many NHS systems moving to the cloud.
