Health care workforce
The Health Foundation, King’s Fund and Nuffield Trust have published The health care workforce in England. The briefing sets out the reasons why the long-term plan and supporting workforce strategy must address the urgent and mounting challenges facing the health care workforce. It will be followed in the coming weeks by a more in-depth report that explores five key levers available nationally and locally that could help ameliorate the workforce crisis affecting both health and social care.
Maternity services: Digital Maturity Assessment
NHS England has published Maternity DMA Report – Digital Maturity Assessment of Maternity Services in England 2018. The Digital Maturity Assessment (DMA) is a complete picture of the digital maternity landscape across England – a baseline for improvement at both a national and local level. It is accompanied by supporting documents.
Community-centred practice
Public Health England has published Community-centred practice: applying All Our Health. This document provides information for front-line staff to adopt community-centred ways of working that help improves the health and wellbeing of the most marginalised communities. It also recommends actions that managers and staff holding strategic roles can take.
Technology in care
The Care Quality Commission has launched a new resource Technology in care. This resource explores the use of technology in care, looking at the benefits of innovation and updating previously published information on surveillance. New topics will be added to the resource. People can sign up to receive email alerts when new items are published.
Homelessness: duty to refer
On 1 October 2018, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 introduced a new legal duty on specified public services to refer service users they consider may be homeless or threatened with homelessness to a local housing authority. The Department of Health and Social Care has published an overview of the duty to refer for NHS staff, including how to make a referral to a local authority.
