Autumn budget: NHS spending
HM Treasury has published two documents relating to NHS spending following the Autumn budget:
- NHS spending: Autumn Budget 2017 brief – sets out details of the government’s policy on NHS spending following the budget which announced £6.3 billion of new funding for the NHS in England
- Funding for local groups of NHS organisations – sets out the first twelve schemes due to benefit from government investment in STPs
Preventing malnutrition in later life
The Malnutrition Task Force has published State of the Nation: an overview of older people and malnutrition in the UK today. This report focuses on the scale and challenges of malnutrition in later life in the UK. It brings together information, statistics and evidence from across the health and social care system to highlight what is happening to older people who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition in England.
Nutritional care tool report
The BAPEN Quality and Safety Committee has published Nutritional Care Tool Report 2017. It provides organisational-level data on how nutritional care is organised and patient-level data on the quality of nutrition in hospitals, care homes and community organisations.

Brexit and medicines regulation
The House of Commons Library has published Brexit and medicines regulation. This briefing provides an overview of current medicines regulation in the UK and the relationship with the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and regulatory agencies in EU Member States. It considers what the options may be in this area following Brexit, and presents comment on these from stakeholders

A new 550 bed hospital costing £800m will be built in London over the next decade, according to plans revealed to HSJ. - Out of hours care provider bought for £11m
An out of hospital care provider has been bought by a private limited company. - Government pledges £3.5bn capital to NHS over next five years
The Treasury has commited an extra £3.5bn to NHS capital spending over the next five years, with the service expected to raise the same sum itself through land sales.
