NHS strategies state that an understanding of patient experience is central to development of “person-centred” services. But our latest publication reveals that NHS staff are bombarded by eighteen separate reporting mechanisms on patient experience. Data arrives in different formats and at different times, and some of it is of questionable quality.

Scientists have developed a virtual reality computer game as part of the world’s biggest dementia research experiment.
Culture of care barometer – NHS England
The Culture of Care Barometer (CCB) is a survey tool designed to help organisations gauge the culture of care they provide is now available online as well as on paper. The tool is built around seven cultural factors that help to indicate specific issues within the care environment: empowerment, leadership, values, role, resources and teamwork.
A “hot to guide” offers step-by-step instructions to using the tool.
Everybody active, every day: a framework to embed physical activity into daily life – Public Health England (PHE)
This framework provides a national, evidence-based approach to support all sectors to embed physical activity into the fabric of daily life and make it an easy, cost-effective and normalised choice in every community in England. The framework is accompanied by a summary of the evidence as well as targeted guidance for MPs and local authorities.
An RCN toolkit for school nurses – Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
This toolkit provides school nurses with information, examples of good practice, templates and useful websites to support and develop professional practice. It considers varying policy and practice which applies across the UK and the range of settings in which school nurses work.
