Excellence by design: standards for postgraduate curricula – General Medical Council (GMC)
These newly developed standards aim to make postgraduate training more flexible for doctors and they provide a framework for the approval and provision of postgraduate medical education and training across the UK. All medical colleges and faculties are required to update all 103 existing postgraduate medical curricula against the GMC’s new standards, with a target to complete the process by 2020.

Warning of faulty defibrillators
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has issued a press release warning people and organisations to check if they have the defibrillator model, LIFEPAK 1000 Automatic External Defibrillators (AED), because a technical fault with some of them means they may not deliver an electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. This issue could potentially affect all LIFEPAK 1000 devices
