Referral-to-treatment waiting times and forecasts – NHS Confederation
This report estimates that the number of people waiting longer than 18 weeks for planned operations could exceed 800,000 by 2020. The analysis finds that demand for elective operations is rising, with the number of people waiting for treatment forecast to hit 5 million in 2020. The report recommends that patients be made aware of their right to choose where they receive NHS treatment in order to help patients access care as quickly as possible.
Older people’s care in acute settings benchmarking
The Benchmarking Network has published Older people’s care in acute settings national report. This project explores the pathway that people take through the acute hospital, including A&E and assessments units, inpatient wards and supported discharge teams. Forty seven acute hospitals took part in the 2016 project collecting 2015/16 data. The three key findings indicate the use of the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment is increasing, readmission rates are rising, and delayed transfers of care continue to grow.
Workplace Wellbeing Charter
RAND Europe has published Workplace Wellbeing Charter: analysis of take-up and impact. This report, commissioned by Public Health England, analyses the take-up and impact of the Workplace Wellbeing Charter (WWC). The study identified a number of improvements in policies, infrastructure and the provision of wellbeing programmes although these changes could not be unambiguously attributed to the WWC in part due to a lack of information on outputs and outcomes.
NICE Bites: spondyloarthritis
The March 2017 NICE Bites bulletin from the North West Medicines Information Service covers Spondyloarthritis in over 162: diagnosis and management. The aim of this publication is to provide healthcare professionals with a summary of key prescribing points taken from the NICE guidance NG65. This guideline covers the diagnosis and management of suspected or confirmed spondyloarthritis in adults 16 years and over.
