New Framework for nursing, midwifery and care staff
NHS England has published Leading change, adding value: a framework for nursing, midwifery and care staff. The framework is aligned to the Five Year Forward View and highlights the need to focus on unwarranted variation, variations in health and care outcomes, patients’ experience and use of resources that cannot be justified by reasons of geography, demography, or infrastructure.
Integrated personal commissioning framework
NHS England and the Local Government Association has published Integrated personal commissioning: emerging framework. This document is for commissioners in both CCGs and local authorities, their delivery partners in education and the VCSE sector, and for local authority and NHS-funded care providers. The framework sets out the future model of care for patients and families with the most complex needs.
STP and Vanguard funding allocations
- NHS England has published indicative figures for how much each part of England could see its NHS budget grow by 2020, and the funding available for transformation. This will help local NHS and care leaders develop their STPs, showing how the NHS Five Year Forward View will be implemented locally, using the growing funding envelope available to each area.
- For each STP footprint Table 2 gives : place-based allocation 2016/17; place-based allocation 2020/21 and indicativeallocation including S&T funds 2020/21
- Also announced are Specific allocations for 47 of the 50 vanguards (Excl Greater Manchester).
GPs vote to ballot on industrial action – Health Service Journal
GP representatives have voted unanimously to ballot the profession on potential industrial action, and the possibility of signing undated resignations.
Workplace mental health and wellbeing
The Mental Health Foundation, in conjunction with employee benefits specialist Unuman, has published an eguide Managing mental health in the workplace. The guide looks at safeguarding staff wellbeing, addressing problems before they become severe, and supporting staff when issues do emerge. It provides signposts to support and resources, and offers suggestions for putting strategies in place to support good mental health.
Antimicrobial Resistance Review recommendations
The Review on Antimicrobial Resistance has published its final recommendation in the document Tackling drug-resistant infections globally: final report and recommendations. This report discusses the problem of resistance; why action is needed; and provides an overview of the solutions that should be implemented. It also examines the role of public awareness campaigns; the need to improve sanitation and hygiene; the introduction of rapid diagnostics and vaccines; how these solutions can be funded; and ways to build political consensus around them.
Official figures reveal £2.45bn NHS provider deficit – Health Service Journal
