Prospectus: 2015/16 Edition – NHS Improving Quality
The NHS IQ Prospectus offers information about tools, networks, programmes, training and publications to help improve the quality of services across health and social care and the 2015/16 version now includes resources such as the new A-Z of Measurement and Measurement ‘How to Guide’, plus the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in the Fundamentals of Health and Care Improvement & Improvement Science. The Quality Service Improvement & Redesign (QSIR) Train-the-Trainer Programme and Masterclasses on Leading Transformational Change & Service Improvement are also new for this year.
New standards for children and young people with acute illness
The Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Nursing have developed jointly a new set of standards Facing the Future Together for Child Health 2015. The standards aim to ensure there is always high quality diagnosis and care early in the unscheduled pathway and to reduce unnecessary attendances at the emergency department and admissions to hospital by providing care closer to home. The standards aim to bring specialist child health expertise directly into general practice where the needs of the child or young person are known and build connections between primary and secondary care.
Treasury slammed for targeting public health underspend – Health Service Journal
This year’s council public health budgets were targeted for cuts by the Treasury because of a multimillion pound underspend in 2013-14.

Trust seeks Royal Mail advice on cutting sickness rate – Health Service Journal
Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust has sought advice from Royal Mail and the fire service as it bids to slash its sickness rates. The trust’s board papers for May listed several actions that have been taken to address its absence rate, which has increased to 5.3 per cent during 2014-15, against a target of 4.5 per cent.

A survey of RCN members found almost half of nursing staff based in the community have been subjected to abuse during the last two years.
