NICE Evidence update: Venous thromboembolic diseases
NICE has published a new evidence update Venous thromboembolic diseases(Evidence Update 55). This Evidence Update provides a summary of selected new evidence published since the literature search was last conducted for the following NICE guidance: Venous thromboembolic diseases NICE clinical guideline 144 (2012). Evidence Updates are intended to increase awareness of new evidence they do not replace current NICE guidance and do not provide formal practice recommendations.

NHS Confederation has published a briefing Two sides of the same coin: balancing quality and finance to deliver greater value. The briefing examines the crucial issue facing the NHS regarding how the health service can balance the imperative to provide better care with the need to reduce costs overall. It highlights the key messages arising from a roundtable event held at the end of last year. It is published by a partnership of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the NHS Confederation.
How to provide 24/7, joined up palliative care – Health Service Journal Article
After years of disjointed end of life care services in England, an initiative in Bedfordshire shows how to coordinate services 24 hours a day. Palliative care services across the county have been disjointed. There have been a number of different provider numbers to call, all of which had different operating times and there was no central register for end of life care.
